Sharp nerve like pain in arm?

On my left arm in between my elbow and wrist i have a really sharp pain every minute or so, it only lasts a few seconds but it really hurts. ive been moving in different positions to help alleviate the pain and its not working. what is causing this and how can i prevent it?

See your health care provider as soon as possible (neurologist). Your pain (arm) probably stems from some chronic irritation of the sciatic nerve root as it leave the spinal cord. This may be caused by a herniated, or "slipped," disk, a disk fragment, or a bone spur. Unfortunately, the longer the pain lasts, the less likely it is to disappear. A consultation with a neurologist would be advisable. And good luck.
