What are the symptoms of migraine/ serious headache?

Is it possible to have a mixed headache, with both migraine and cluster headache symptoms? ?

  • I get 24-hour headaches that can be severe, with vomiting up to 10 times a night, eyelid drooping and nasal congestion. Sleeping typically makes it worse. No aura or prodrome symptoms, no photo or phonophobia. Pain is boring in character, not throbbing, starts dull in morning, builds in intensity throughtout day, start vomiting around 9 in evening.

  • Answer:

Women tend to get migraines more than men, more men get cluster headaches. Since you don't get an aura, or photophobia, etc., and in spite of Carrie being a woman's name, your etiology sounds more like clusters. You may have already tried this, but I suggest two tennis balls in a cotton sock, tied off so they are snug. And lay on it so that they are at the base of your skull, both sides. Or if the tennis balls are too much, consider trying a couple of socks with about 3 inches of rice in the toes, tied off firmly, then used in the main sock, tied off, and warmed in the microwave.
