Are raised enzymes dangerous?

Causes of Raised cardiac enzymes and chest pain?

  • My husband had chest pain for 2 weeks ago it lasted about 3 days. He was admitted because his cardiac enzymes levels were elevated at a 1.34 then it went to 9.28 then they went back down to 1.34. His heart rate is low also going from 54 to 39. They did a heart catheriization and the doctors said that his heart looked healthy. They released him. They said they dont know why he had the chest pain and raised cardiac enzymes. They said they think it was a muscle spasms. But now here we are 2 weeks later and he had the chest pain again and so he was admitted again and his enzymes are high still they tested the enzymes 2 times so far , the nurse told me the cardiac enzymes are higher than they were higher than ever before. he has a slow heart rate. they are still monitoring him but its like they dont know what is going on with him.I dont want them to send him home again without a cause especially it has only been two weeks and he is back in the hospital.Has anyone ever had this situation happen to them.

  • Answer:

His chest pains are caused by pinched muscles in the back. The back muscles often send the pains around the body on the nerves to become pains in the rib, chest or heart areas. Pinched muscles don't show up on scans or tests so pains like this go undiagnosed. Pinched back muscles can also press onto the nerves, as they leave the spine, going to the organs. That pressure will make the organs act up or go into pain. I don't know where the enzymes they are talking about are stored but this pressure can be causing the release of them by that organ. What is interesting is that pinched muscles usually raise the heart rate and bp, but your husbands goes down. I wonder if there is pressure on the nerves going to the heart which might cause something like that. Anyway, to get rid of the chest pain he has to free up the muscles in his back and here's how to do that: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For best results relax the body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. Hope this helps you out and gets him home and out of pain quickly. good luck.

Your husband should see a cardiologist or ask for one at the hospital. Enzymes usually go up during a heart attack. That's one of the things they look for if you think you are having a heart attack to confirm it. There is a reason this is happening. A clogged artery in the heart will also cause chest pain.

I have been through a similar experience with the chest pains, raised enzymes and heart cath. except in my case the heart cath. showed complete blockage of all coronary arteries. I had a quad. CABG surgery with good results. Thru the course of this experience i meet many heart patients in rehab and the thing i saw that i want to tell you is that there is a great deal of what i call luck involved in this disease. So here is hoping your husbands luck is good and he overcomes this condition.

I have seen many men when there enzyme levels have spiked to high levels, and most of them were drinking alcohol or using recreational drugs before the enzymes spiked. I don't know if that is the reason here, but it is necessary to ask. Does your husband normally have a slow heart rate? Heart rates vary with all people, what is normal for one person might not be normal for another. You also did not mention how old your husband is, and age could be a factor. I hope he is feeling well soon!
