What happens when you have a hernia?

What happens when pain from a possible hernia goes away?

  • Three months ago, I had a really bad pain in my left stomach. It was so bad, I had to limp walking down a flight of stairs. I couldn't even lay in bed properly from the pain. There weren't any noticeable lumps or bruising. When I had to do the number two, I was a little constipated. I should of went to the doctors, but I decided to just wait it out. The pain is gone now, but the left side of my stomach feels a little weird. It doesn't hurt if I lift anything and I'm going to the bathroom fine. I know you can die from a hernia if not treated as soon as possible.

  • Answer:

I don't know that pain from a hernia would suddenly stop by itself. It doesn't make sense to me. I would think you may have had problems with something else being tight or binding up and giving you the pain you experienced. Some things can release themselves and not reoccur but I don't think a hernia is one of them.
