Has anyone else experienced similar joint or muscle pain?

Has anyone experienced chronic back pain after weight loss?

  • I lost just about 50 lbs in the past 6 months (actually from month 1-4: the last 2 have been consistant weight) via diet and excercise. The past 2 months, during the plateau, i have exerpeinced chronic mid back pain. The pain is in the area that i am associating with the trapezius muscle, or rhomboidious if deeper. The pain persists from the moment I get out of bed, until the monent i return to bed. Stretching doesnt help. Massage doesnt help for longer than the actual massage. I have tried Advil, Tylenol, Motrin, Aspirin, & Excederine, Aleve. No help. I have also tried a heating pad and hot water pad...still nothing. There is no numbness or tingling, just a dull achy pain that is driving me bat **** crazy. Has anyone experienced this?

Well - you could try a chiropractor... I know they've saved my bacon over and over. But chronic pain is a very interesting animal. There's almost no reason for it to be there. If you had a real injury, it would heal up. But "chronic" means that it just goes on and on and doesn't heal. That's not typical of the human body. SO..... there is a Dr. Sarno who has written a book called "Healing Back Pain" you might want to read. You can get it used off of Amazon Books. Sarno has developed an interesting diagnosis of what causes "chronic" pain and how to get rid of it. Apparently he's worked with people laying in the hospital on morphine and had them up and moving. Anyway - it's worth a look. Good luck with that - it will drive you nuts after a while.
