Cannot swallow capsules/ softgels?

I want to take this herbal supplement, but it is in capsules/softgels. It is hard for me to swallow capsules/softgels. Can I break open capsules/softgels? Will it cause harm, because of the reason it is in a capsule/softgels?

You can break then open, but not advisable. It will make a mess and plus they are a little harder to break than you think. Plus it will most likely taste very, very bad. Here is an idea on how to help you swallow the capsule. Put the capsule in your mouth then drink a glass of water but don't swallow yet. Tilt your head back as far as possible so that your mouth and your throat are in a vertical line. Most likely, the pill will be floating. try to swallow all the water in one big gulp. Don't drink so much water that you will not be able to do this or too little of water because you will not get the pill down. If you have just enough water and can swallow it all in one gulp then the pill should stick with the water and you won't even feel it go down. Try that and see how it does for you.

put it in some applesauce to take it - it works.

I'm not sure if you could break it open, but I wouldn't take a chance. If you put it in apple sauce or maybe yogurt it helps. I have no problem taking capsules and pills now because I'm used to them. I started off with the apple sauce thing and then I used to take a glass of water, take a sip, but the pill in my mouth, tilt my head back, and take a huge sip of water and just swallow, then I tried again. Now I can take a pill without water, but I still use the water because it is easier. If you just relax you can swallow it, but when you are all nervous, you can't. Don't force the swallowing either. You'll get used to it.
