Is this caused from heart burn?

  • everytime i swallow i have a pain on the sides of my tongue and pain in my chest. it doesn't matter what i eat or drink i have this pain.. its a really sharpe pain and its a burning feeling.i dont know what its from. im thinking it might be from heart burn

  • Answer:

You're right. That is definitely heart burn. Foods that trigger it are chocolate, spicy foods and peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes, acidic food, caffeine, alcohol, carbonated drinks, cheese, nuts, peppermint and cinnamon. Keep track of what you eat to see what sets you off. Don't touch any problem foods for several hours before going to bed. During the day, eat smaller portions of the problem foods, and never eat them on an empty stomach. For antacids, go with Gaviscon. Tums don't work at all.
