Why does my eye hurt?

Why does my eye hurt.. pain in my eye...?

  • Hi, Yesterday I took my contact lenses after wearing them all day - they are the daily disposable ones. Usually I feel no pain, but yesterday my right eye really hurt whereas my left eye was fine. It felt as if there was something stuck in there but the contact lens had not ripped and I checked for anything else but it was clear - I then went to rinse my eye with some cold water, but it still hurt. It hurt a bit more when I blinked too. Today, my eye still hurts and it feels quite "heavy" and sore and as if there is something still in there but there's not. What could this be and how long will it take to go away? I am 14 years old. Thanks!

  • Answer:

See your health care provider as soon as possible (ophthalmologist), for consultation. It may be. Extended-wear contact lens users are 10 to 15 times more likely than daily-wear users to develop corneal ulcers, which can become infected. In general, the risk increases with the length of time you wear your lenses, beginning with the first night's use. It is much safer to remove contact lenses daily, then clean and sterilize them each night. I hope this helps you. And good luck.
