Why do my ears always hurt so much when the plane i'm in goes back down to the ground?
-
I've recently gone to a trip to San Fransisco last week. It was my second time ever getting into a plane. When it took off, my ears felt fine. When the pilot said we were almost there I began feeling incredible sharp pain in my ears. It oddly itched alot from deep inside. It was torture. I basically started crying from all the pain. I'll admit I rarely clean my ears, jusr never tend to do it and I listen to music pretty loudly on my headphones. I'm just really curious why this only happened to me and not anyone else from my family in the plane. Some explanation would help. :)

Answer:
Yes as said before it is the pressure however your doctor can help you with the pain and pressure build up so talk to the doctors and tell them your problem with landing.

It's just the pressure in the cabin.. not sure how that works but its very common,it always use to happen to me and it felt like my head was about to explode :| ha ha!! i now use these little ear plugs called ear planes that are just for flying and they keep the pressure out, they are amazing!! it's saved me so much pain..you should be able to get them from your local drugstore or online.. im english and i get them from a shop called Boots :D xxx
Your problem probably stems from congestion blocking the eustachian tube, which connects your nose and middle ear. When that happens, the change in cabin pressure during takeoff and landing can make the eardrum retract or expand, causing pain and impairing hearing. To keep the eustachian tube open, try taking a decongestant--preferably a short-acting nasal spray or drops, such as phenylephrine 0.5% (Neo-Synephrine)--shortly before takeoff. A second dose may be needed shortly before landing. I hope this helps you. And good luck.
Its just the pressure yawning or chewing gum helps alot.
