Is it better to do gym at back pain?

My lumber disc is herinated,and now its paining so much,my friend suggested to join gym,but i dont think it works,please tell me what to do.

You could do a lot of damage if you do the wrong exercise because of your pain symptoms. Definitely go to the doctor before going near any gym .
