What can be don to releave the pain and swelling in your knees due to bursitis.?
-
My son is 19 years old and has had problems with bursitis in his knees in the past. We have taken him to the doctor and he had said a lot of time bursitis acts up if your not active and just getting up and walking would help relieve it. And in the past that did work . But my son is a VERY active person and accually has just started a new job where he is on his feet for 10 - 12 hours a day. His knees dont bother him at work but now that he has had the weekend off his knees are swelled and very painful. What will help releave this. Heat? Cold pack? Help me out here does anyone know what to do

Answer:
Bursitis can be caused by tight tendons pulling the joints together putting pressure on the bursae. Exercise would make that worse as it is going to wear away what is supposed to be the protective sheathing there. The tendons need to be freed up so the knee won't have that pressure on it. Those tendons can be difficult to do so you should have one trained in them help you out.

Try Immunocal daily, it is natural not a drug. "Though much of his life has been dedicated to the self-control necessary for martial arts study, Pierre could not overcome bursitis of the shoulders or sever pollen allergies during the summer by sheer willpower alone. He also could not be sick and teach his Tae Kwon Do classes. “I began taking Immunocal/HMS 90 one day and enjoyed real relief from my allergy symptoms,” he said. Four months later, the pain in both shoulders had also subsided and Pierre was again able to concentrate on honing his skills"
cold pack an pain reliever....but if it stays swollen--he may have fluid on the knee and it will have to be drained out via syringe and needle
Well just from my own personal experience with bursitis.I have gotten a lot of relief with Ibuprofen, but it was prescription strength at 600 to 800 mg's.So in this case,I suggest your son ask for a prescription for his bursitis pain, unless he finds pain relief from OTC pain medication(s).And,I've also gotten great pain relief from heat...a moist heated towel, which I heated in the microwave oven. And,it's safe to do so.I was advised by my rheumatologist to do so,and have had no issues since I started using my microwave to heat my towels. This really provides my bursitis pain a great deal of relief, and also helps with the inflammation. So,both suggestions I have offered worked well for me over the course of about 18 years, and am currently using both to this day. I hope your son starts feeling relief soon.Take care.
