Why do my bones hurt when I run?

Why do my legs hurt when I run?

  • For the past month or so, my legs have been feeling like they're aching and fatigued, and it feels like it's in my bones. I received an X-Ray and a bone scan to see if I had any stress fractures, but there were none. I am 16 years old and I've missed part of my track season already. I am a long distance runner and I trained all winter. I was advised to take some time off and I did, for about 3 weeks. I ran 2 days ago, and my legs still felt the same. I also got a blood test and they said it's also possible I have mono. I'm not sure if that would have any effect on my legs hurting so badly when I run. They do not hurt when I walk, just when I run, particularly when I run slow or when I run a lot faster. They mentioned it could be something to do with my growth plates as well. I'm seeing an orthopedic doctor in 3 days, but I'm tired of waiting to figure out what's wrong with me. Anyone know what's going on with me?
