Physical Therapy for Broken Wrist?

Could I have broken my wrist???? ?

  • Ok in January I broke my thumb. It was all the way throught the bone and it was slightly displaced. I didn't need surgery or anything, just a cast. Well I remember the bruising was on my thumb and wrist (saphoid area). My wrist (scaphoid area) and whole thumb were really swollen. I could barely move my thumb and wrist. My mom thought it was a sprain so we left it. But we saw a doctor and saw I had broken my thumb. Well anyways my wrist (scaphoid side) still gets swollen and it's bruised. It is painful to move. I am currently going to therapy to help it. Could of my wrist been broken too?

Usually when they take an Xray of the thumb they include the whole hand including the wrist. I am assuming that is what they did. But it would have showed on the Xray. Plus you had a cast on it so that would have helped in the healing of the wrist. If you are in therapy and it is suspect you have a fracture of the wrist. Therapy should be halted and it is their responsibility to notify the Doctor.
