Okay, my Dad is a doctor and he has told me many times that you should NEVER crack your joints. It causes arthritis when you get older. What you are hearing when you crack your thumb or finger is the liquid that is used as a lubricant between the two bones. Anyways, stop trying to crack any of your joints (unless they crack naturally like when you lift you arm over your head and hear a pop from your shoulder). What you are feeling is just sore ligaments in your hand. Hope that helps!

Is it the the thume along your mouse hand? If it is then you have another problem.

See your health care provider as soon as possible. Each hand has 14 finger joints, each like a small hinge. These joints are operated by muscles in the forearm that control them through an intricate system of tendons that run through the wrist and hand. The small size and complex arrangement of these joints and tendons mean that any inflammation or damage to a joint is likely to result in some stiffness and lost motion. Even a small scar may limit motion. Gamekeeper's thumb is a rupture of the ligament on the palm side of the thumb, which is responsible for pinching movements. It usually results from a fall that jams the thumb backward onto a hard surface. This injury is so named because it used to be an occupational hazard of gamekeepers in England. Listen to the pain message and avoid activities that cause or aggravate pain. Rest the finger joints so that they can heal, but use gentle stretching exercises to keep them limber and maintain motion. The key to managing finger and thumb problems is to use common sense. Anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen can help for pain and inflammation. I hope this helps you. And good luck, and happy holidays.
