Extreme Muscle Pain... Please Help!?
-
I have been put into a school production of Grease, and it is my first production (I'm playing Patty Simcoz btw. :D) and I didn't really exercise much before, but now I am dancing every ngt after school. I thought this could only be good but I have had 2 nights recently of not much sleep due to waking u from a serious muscle spasm in my calf, and it was very very painful. I will also add that it was on the left leg the first night, and the right the second. The thing is it's painful to get OUT of bed and to walk around in the morning, although usually the pain subsides by about lunchtime. I don't sleep in an awquard way, and I do drink, and eat regulary (not in an obese way... I am healthy is what I mean) and I could really use some ideas to help either stop the pain during the night... or to help relax it on a morning. Please help, and please don't leave rude comments... This is a serious matter for me! Thank you! x

Well after dancing every night you need to drink a protein shake right after. Your muscles need be able to recover quickly from all that dancing and the best way to do that is to drink a protein shake. You can buy ready made shakes or powder which you can mix with water and milk and then drink it. Go to any local pharmacy or vitamin shop to buy it. But for right now you need to drink a lot of water and rehydrate your muscles. Make sure to stretch also before and after dancing. The stretching after work outs has to be good stretch to make sure you muscles don't cramp up. Hope this helps.
For many people who get calf cramps at night--it is from the sheets being tucked in, and the feet getting caught, when moving. the pain can be really painful and the best way to release the cramp is to sit with legs extended in front of you--like you are doing sit ups. Reach all ther way forward and with both hands, grab the toes on the cramped foot and bend the toes back--TOWARDS your leg. This stretches out the calf muscle--and releases the cramp. It hurts as you try to do it, but it does work! I used to get them alot. Also, some people are lacking in potassium, and it can cause leg cramps--so make sure you have a banana and/or orange juice every day. I saw "Grease" live, on stage 20 years ago--and loved it, loved it, loved it! best wishes to you!
