Serious pain in middle, upper back?
-
I am having a serious pain that begins at my bra line, extends side to side and then up toward my left shoulder. It is very tender to the touch/pressure. Since yesterday my pinkies on both hands are numb.If I had to give a pain scale I have been at about an 8/9 all day. If you know what I am feeling/have had the surgery you know someone who has and think you can help point me in a direction that may give relief, please answer. BTW...my primary care says my back care is too much for him and refuses to treat anything to do with it. I am 3+ hours from Johns Hopkins. Let me give some back history: L-5 lamenectomy, C5-7 anterior discectomy with fusion (2 in. plate with 6 screws), C-7 to T-2 posterior cervical fusion (2 rods with 8 screws), spinal stenosis, DDD, osteoarthritis. I recently went back for my one year from the C-7 to T-2 surgery and after x-ray my doctor said all was healing well and he could see no problems. My surgeon is the head of orthopaedic surgery at John Hopkins in Baltimore.

You have pinched muscles to give you those pains. That's all there is in that area so it can't be anything else. As I tell others who have had surgery's I don't know how well this works for you for once you puts screws and plates into your body it can't move like your back should to be able to get the muscles freed up again. Here's how to free them up, hope it works for you: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
No pain no gain. Well your vertebrae are obviously the things affecting you since spine injuries can radiate pain, that's probably what your feeling. I suggest talking to your surgeon, try ice and heat, gentle massaging.
