What could be causing these headaches?

The back of my tongue is very sore and giving me headaches, what is causing it?

  • I am a smoker but I have smoked maybe two cigarettes a day for the past week. The irritation of my tongue is not immediately brought on smoking, instead it maintains the same level of irritation (before and after smoking) until night when it becomes severe. Now it is late and I am having trouble swallowing and focusing on tasks from the soreness. I take no medications or have any nightly habits that could be causing this. I have no other symptoms such as coughing, fever, or tiredness except that when it is at its worst I get headaches. This has been occurring for three days and is increasing in severity. Any thoughts on what I might have or what I might do fix it are appreciated.

  • Answer:

    Maybe a yeast infection??
