Why do I have sharp pain in the middle of upper back?

I have a sharp pain in the middle of my upper back that makes it hard to breathe?

  • The pain is in the middle of my shoulder blades and below my neck. It makes it hard to breathe, but after a couple minutes it goes away. Should I see my doctor? Thanks.

  • Answer:

It sounds like you're having a muscle cramp. I have pains in that same area. See a chiropractor. I went to doctors for years about it and they just kept giving me muscle relaxers. I went to a chiropractor for a couple of weeks and all my pain was gone. They really do work miracles. Nothing against doctors, but chiropractors really do more for many back problems.

I would recommend seeing your doctor. Your back is a very fragile place. Plus the shortness of breathe. Yes I would say see your doctor.

Is this recurring pain? Yes, go see your doctor.

it could just be a pulled muscle but if it still concerns you and happens on a daily basis, i say make an appointment and see the doctor

If its actually obstructing your airway and not PHYSICALLY allowing you to take in and exhale air properly then YES! However if you can breathe normally, but it just HURTS in that area to breathe thats another story. Not as serious....probably just a intervertibral disk swollen or out of place, which a chiropractor could easily adjust or you could sleep on it a couple of nights.

Your heart could be involved. I suggest checking it out.
