What is the best remedy for gout?

Gout sufferers? Can you help me find a remedy?

  • Besides prescription medication (which doesn't work by the way) what other products/pills are there that you personally know to work? My husband doesn't want to take the steroids anymore, they end up causing more pain than their worth. The green pill which is supposed to prevent outbreaks, cause gout flareups and the other pill the Dr. prescribes to make the gout go away doesn't work either. Please, is there something else I can get for him to make this problem go away? Thanks!

It's kinda hard to believe a young 32 years old is going through this level of serious gout condition. My very first advice of you is... Stop looking for the Magic Pill. There is no magic pill available that can get rid of your husband's painful gout within a short period of time. Those pills or injections such as NSAIDS and cortisone are purely for purpose of temporarily cheating the body's immune system to slow down the gouty inflammation. But as soon as the effects of those drugs subside, he will get another round of gout attack, usually it gets more and more serious. Almost all conventional medical approaches towards gout are like sweeping dirt under the carpet. That practice will only make the situation becoming worse over time. What your husband is experiencing now is not as simple as gout or hyperuricemia alone. The side effects of those invasive drugs and injections he has been taking over the years are starting to show up. These side effects are blending in with his gouty joints and produce a complicated condition that not drug is able to solve it. Gout started with a simple cause which is because of the elevated uric acid levels in the body. Actually, it could be easily solved without the use of drugs. But because he wanted an instant pain relief, and doctors gave him what he wanted. The problem used to be like a simple mathematics problem with one unknown, but as he took in all those chemical drugs, he has added in more and more unknowns into the equations and made it become a complex quadratic hyperbole problem. I'm not a medical professional, this answer should not be treated as any form of medical advice. I'm just telling simple science here, which I think makes a lot more sense than those bombastic drugs. The whole medical industry has become a lucrative cash cow for some companies out there. What you need now is not more drugs or whatever gout remedies. All you need now is to gain a better understanding of actual root of gout and with clarity comes certainty of solution. It's a choice, he doesn't have to be sick. Good Luck.

First of all, Gout will never go away. Saying that, you can keep it under control and have no symptoms. You must take the medication and stay on the diet. I am not trying to push you away but I just searched Gout and there are hundreds of sites that can give you reliable information.Steroids are just a temporary solutions. It will bring the inflammation but the drug itself has many side effects on it own. None of the drugs that are prescribed for Gout are truly for prevention or make it go away. They assist the body when a flare up occurs. The other entities are rest, anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen and diet. You need to see your doctor and talk about pain management.

What's his Serum Uric Acid level (SUA) ? How often is it tested? What is being done to control it? Gout is inflammation caused by elevated SUA. Drugs can usually control SUA, but it takes time. Steroids are great at stopping an acute attack, but should only be used for a short time. NSAIDs such as indomethicin can help the inflammation, but NSAIDs and steroids do nothing to address the underlying problem - too much uric acid in the blood. The key to his living a gout free life is controlling his SUA. Get a uric acid test kit and test his SUA frequently, then work with a doctor to get the SUA below 6 mg/dL and keep it there. Once is SUA is under control, gout symptoms will start to diminish, and eventually disappear for good.
