What could be causing my headaches?

  • I get as many as three headaches a week. I rarely have a headache-free week. I'm 18 and I have a 17 year old brother and a 15 year old sister. I still live with my parents.I just graduated high school. I've had these headaches since last June. Sometimes taking a pill or a tablet works.Sometimes watching my favorite tv show works. What could be causing this problem? What can I do about it?

  • Answer:

if your headaches are only on one side of your head they could be migraines, you can look up info on migraines here http://migraine.com/?gclid=CNncmfnwg6kCFQkMbAodAg5CRg you can check to see if they describe the headaches you are having. You stated that you usually get them around 3pm every day, you might want to look into your eating habits, are you eating a enough calories duringthe day for your size of a person. I have a lot of experience with not drinking enough water, you should be drinking 8 8oz glasses of water per day. If you are not drinking enough water it can make u feel pretty gross. You should make an appointment with your doctor and explain to him/her about your headaches.

It might be that you need to wear glasses/lins :))

you should get your eyes tested. headaches are connected with problems with the eyes. maybe you are just using the computer/watching tv too much? if not i would go and see your doctor. i have headaches regulalry like you but it is mainly in the sun i get them

I'm glad that they start on one side of your head for this will make more sense to you than most answers will. Headaches are caused by tight neck muscles. If they are tight on one side the headache will start on that side. The muscles get so tight that the message they send to the brain is so intense that when the brain gets the message all it feels is pain, so it was wisely called a headache, not knowing it was being named for the area feeling the pain instead of the area causing the pain. In those situations where there may be stress involved, most people tighten up their neck muscles even more to help the pain set in. To get rid of your headache you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that: Neck Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Could be for any number of reasons & you need to have this checked with your Dr. \Please don't rely on YA for this kind of info.

I suffered from headaches EVERYDAY when I was younger, I still do have them A LOT. The first thing I did was get my eyes tested. You might need glasses. Make an appt with your regular doctor and tell her about your headaches. There are prescriptions you can take to "prevent" headaches. I was on it for a while and it did not work for me but could for you. Try to figure out why you are getting them. Maybe there is a certain light or noise.
