Why is my rib cage deformed?

Why is my rib cage constantly sore?

  • This has been dismissed for many years and I'm getting tired of it. I have moderate pain when anywhere on my rib cage is pressed. The right side is worse then the left, especially the lowest part of the rib on the right side and under my arm put on the left, as well as the center of my ribs under my breast. It's also tender under the collar bone. I have had this pain for many years now. I am about to turn 20. I'm very tired of having this pain. It really is only an issue if my rib cage is pressed. Could this simply be muscle soreness? I have no doubts that my muscles are constantly tensed, they have really never been un tense. I've never been able to touch my toes or do a lot of simple stretches even as a small and in great shape child, my muscles just don't have a lot of give. I have been nervous and stressed out most of my life. While I have made great strides in the emotional aspect of my stress and anxiety, my body hasn't caught up. But while chiropractic care has take care of many of my aches and pains elsewhere, the rib cage pain remains. I've been told I could have fibromyalgia as I experience pain in all the parts of the body that you apparently press on to test for fibromyalgia but doctors dismiss this because I "am too young" but apparently even kids can have it. I don't want to throw this out and sound like a hypochondriac but I know that pain is a sign that something isn't right! You SHOULDN'T hurt if nothing is apparently wrong with you. I just want to know, i've lived with it everyday for years with little progress in understanding...

  • Answer:

I was reading today that according to the mayo clinic fibromyalgia tends to onset in early-middle audult hood. It also seems that more women than men get fibromyalgia. I have fibromyalgia myself, and I am off to the mayo clinic in a few weeks. I will tell you that the muscles around my rib vage hurts, but then again for me everything hurts. It could be something else though, AND you could have fibromylagia. Often times there are a lot of other issues that come with fibromyalgia. My first symptoms appreared in my back and neck. Theyw were on set by pregnancy and stress I belive. Good luck and know you are not alone.
