How long should i study for the SAT everyday?

Planning on taking the SAT World Hist. in June, and I took the class LAST year. How should I study?

  • I'm planning on taking the SAT World History Subject Test in June so I can get 1/3 of my Subject Tests required for college over with. Problem is, I took AP World History last year in 10th grade, so some info. might have escaped me. But I feel pretty confident in passing because I got a 4 on the AP exam and I still have my notes and AP study guide from last year. To review and study, I'm going to re-read the AP text ("World Civilizations) and go to the cram sessions my teacher my last year holds two weeks before the AP exam for sophomores. Should these help me with the exam? (I'm also going to use the SAT prep book also) And if any of you HAVE taken the SAT World Hit. and AP exam, can you please tell me some differences or similarites? Thank you!

  • Answer:

Buy a few practice books and take practice tests. That's what I did for both the US History and World History SATIIs. My school has very limited classes, so I took Early World History as a freshman (not honors or AP cause those classes weren't available) and Honors Modern European History (pretty much Galileo through the rise of Hitler, but not including WWII... again, no AP available) as a sophomore. As a junior I took Honors US History (from the Revolutionary War through 1910ish... school doesn't offer APUSH, either.). I never took a class beyond that. In other words, I don't know anything about history from 1939 onward. Despite this, I got 650s on both SATII exams after taking 2 US History practice SATIIs and 2 World History practice SATIIs. I wish I'd done better, but there wasn't much I could do, given that I'd never before been exposed to much of the material. If you just get a few books and take a few tests, you'll be more prepared than I was, simply due to what you've learned in school. You'll do fine.
