What are easy ways of writing a good essay?

Help. please critique my essay. this is graded on the rubric scale?Someone who is an expert at writing?

Assignment Directions: Tell the story of a time you made an “unexpected” friend and learned something important from that friend. In your response, be sure to explain how the friendship came about and the ways in which this friendship taught you something. My Essay: When I was 12 years old,I was riding my bike around the neighborhood during the cold month of January.I wasnt looking where I was going, so I almost ran into a another girl about my age, with glasses, short brown hair, and a striped red shirt.With a sad and mean tone, she shouted " Hey, watch where you're going!" Instead of being the combative child that I usually was, I said " Sorry, I guess I need to be more careful while riding this". A few seconds later, the girl bursted into tears and just nodded her head.When I asked what was wrong, she said " I lost my dog, and I cant find him anywhere, I post up posters around the neighboorhood and everyone says that they havent seen him. His name is Scruffy." When she asked me to help put up more posters, I hesitated, because I was on my way to a party. I said"Uhm, sorry, I have to be somewhere, but good luck finding your dog." After she said, "ok and thanks" I left. 10 minutes later, I started to feel really bad for the girl and thought, "Should I go help her?" I really wanted to go to the party, which was only a street away,but I turned around towards her house and tried to decide, what I could do to help. While,riding towards her neighboorhood, I seen a small blond and black colored yorkie that fit the description of the dog, on the girl's flyer. It kept running as I was walking towards it, but I managed to pick it up. As I continued to walk, I spotted the girl and said" Is this yours?"Joy covered her whole face as she yelled "Scruffy!" and she thanked me. I had two more hours untill the pary ended, so I decided to go again, and invited her along with me. That day, I learned a lesson and made a new friend for life.I learned that if I wouldnt of turned around to help her look for the dog, I never would've found scruffy. I also learned that helping someone is more important than thinking of yourself.
