Is it possible to improve sat score?

Is 1610 a good SAT score (first time)? How can I improve my score?

• Here are my scores: Test Date Test Score National Percentile 06/2010 SAT Reasoning Test Critical Reading 570 72% Math 550 61% Writing 490 49% Multiple Choice 50 (score range: 20-80) Essay 7 (score range: 2-12) I will be retaking the SAT this October, so I have almost 4 months to prepare for it? How can I improve my score? What should my target score be? What books do you recommend?

  1610 is not bad! This score is average for a state school, but if you want something different, you may need to improve. First, look if the school you want to attend considers the writing portion of the test (many don't). If the school does, then spend some time brushing up on grammer and punctuation skills. Also, do a practice essay. Find an essay from an old SAT (can be found on collegeboards website) and do a practice essay while timing yourslef. Other than that, a detailed report of your score will be available June 29, (if u took the SAT in June). It will give you more advice based on your test scores.
