• I am not sure weather I have written this essay according to the SAT standards. ASSIGNMENT: Read the following passage: In a culture obsessed with superficial appearances, our leaders should be those who can see beyond the surface.Judging a book by its cover is the job of the consumer, but reading the book-pondering its content and perhaps seeking to write new chapters-is the job of a leader. How important is it to look beyond superficial appearances? My essay: As history goes on, trends and desires have altered. People have begun to appreciate more esthetic values rather than meaningfull and in depth aspects of life. Appearance is without any doubt important. In any society, its inhabitants always desire to be surrounded by beauty, well-dressed people and a pleasant surrounding.If we were to neglect apperance , then our environment would have to suffer and our lifestyle would face negative turnouts. Our lives have become better due to the effort of improving the looks of everything around us becausie that is exactly what people need for a balanced and joyfull life. For example, people from countries such as Brazil will always find happiness since the country is full with marvellous sceneries and of course, the shiniest event in the world, the Rio carnaval, that is a genuine challenge for all which is beautifull. On the other hand, appearance alone will only lead to shallowness and ignorance ofreal values. Most of the evolution of our society happened due to the hard work of people who did not emphasize on appearance but more on depth and pragmatism. We must not judge anything by its appearances, but instead to appreciate its qualities and praise it as it derves. A real leader will always look in depth for anything despite its looks of it for it is his job to know and to use the knowledge in the aid of everyone. All in all, we must appreciate looks for they are pleasant for the eye and generate a better disposition for everyone around us, but, we also have to get past the prejudice and value the depth of everything for that is the key to a real life!
