What does it take to skip a grade in school?

How to skip eighth grade in Texas..?

• Okay. So I just got through with seventh grade. I was in all honors classes, and got accepted into the national junior honor society. Every seventh grader in my advanced classes were completely immature, even my friends in seventh grade acted like they had two faces. I was friends with all the advanced placement eighth grade and I know how mature they are because no matter what they're always there for me and don't say something differently facing another friend. I make all A's; only have had two B's my entire life. I get through school pretty easily, I don't study at all and always get A's on everything anyway. I was wondering if I could skip eighth grade and take a test for GT classes also? Has anyone done this before? Please don't tell me it's a stupid idea, I hear enough of that. Thanks!(:

  My friend was able to do this and she and her parents had to have a meeting with the superintendent since credit by exam is only offered to eleventh and twelth graders.
