I need to take the MAT(math placement) test online, can i use pen and paper or Just my brain?

I was just wondering because the instructions say that you can't use calculator to solve the problems, is it the same case if you use pen and paper or what?

you can not use pen or paper because that is the equivalent of using a calculator so ya just use your brain for the test
