What's the difference between SAT and SAT subject tests?

Can i send in my scores for the SAT that are from one session and SAT subject tests from another session?

  • I am taking the SAT on May 2, 2009. I am also taking 2 subject tests but i cannot do them June 6, 2009 because I am on a trip that day. So i was wondering if i can take the subject tests on the first day of the 2009-2010 session of the SAT's and still send them into colleges along with my original SAT score? and i was wondering if sending those scores in with my application that late would affect my chances at admission? I am applying to the university of arizona, UCLA, UCSD, and Stanford. any help would be great!

  • Answer:

The last day to take the SAT's is usually December. The only disadvantage to waiting until the last minute is that you won't have the time to re-take anything. You can take the subject tests in September, and still be in good shape to re-take any tests you need in October, November and December. Also, I'm pretty sure that you need 3 SAT's to apply to the UC's. (Note: I would not recommend taking all 3 tests in one day, even though you're allowed to. 2 subject tests is about as much as a brain can handle in one day! :) )
