Would you say that IGCSE is hard?

Yesterday's English 1st language IGCSE exam (paper 21, Arab standard time) question?

  • I did the English 1st language IGCSE exam yesterday and found the interview of Dean Potter a bit difficult because there wasn't much to work with other than the fact he's a soft speaker, depends on luck and fate, really doesn't think much ahead and is a recluse when it comes to climbing. It was also noted how he is ''painfully shy'' in Passage A. Does anyone remember if it said he is ''sometimes'' painfully shy or if it just said ''and painfully shy''. And in the same paragraph and sentence, did it say that he's ''talkative'' or not? I don't remember but what I do remember that I made him a bit emotionally reserved in the interview I wrote for question 1. In addition, did you make the Dean Potter's words in the interview 'formal'? Like no contractions? I used contractions because it would be incredibly unrealistic for him to not use contractions and the interview was a script. So it's supposed to be what he actually said.

  • Answer:

Hi, i did the exam on Thursday and i know, we hadnt much to pick from the passage, so that was pretty hard! Anyway,, the passage only had painfully shy and I used contractions too, so its perfectly fine! :)
