What is the best career option in biology except medical?

AP Biology or AP Physics -- Need Advice/any insight? Please?

  • Next year (as a sophomore), I have the option of choosing either AP Biology or AP Physics - I'm just little hesitant about which one to take. I know AP Physics is a math intensive course and I wouldn't consider math my strong point - it doesn't always click right away, but I do get As somehow. I haven't been exposed to Pre-Calc/Calc (obviously) - so I don't know how that factors in. (A handful of sophomores do take AP Physics in my school w/o much exposure to Calc - "some" seem to do okay). The only positive thing is that the teacher is extremely dedicated to teaching, 10% added to your final grade, and you get quite a few curves. I heard most people pass by w/ B, depending on on how well they do. If I take AP Biology, it is mandatory that I take Physics Honors and it turns out the Physics Honors teacher is extremely vague and lazy, the highest anyone would end up w/ is also B (which probably will end up hurting my GPA to some extent). AP Biology is obviously intense and once again, the teacher is dedicated, so that's not an issue. As far as majoring goes, I have pretty much have no idea - definitely something in the science field (maybe...medical?). My counselors have advised people to take courses related to their respective career in their junior year. (But junior year, I hear is beyond stressful w/ the SATS, etc) Any insight would be beyond helpful. Thanks! Oh, is there anything I can really to prepare over the summer for either AP Physics or AP Biology. (I will also be taking AP Gov't and Politics too)

  • Answer:

    I. took the Ap physics B exam wihtout taking the class and got a 5 on it... if it wasnt for my IB exams i wouldve probably been doing ap physics C last year as a junior... i reccomend taking Ap physics B its pretty straight forward and if youve been exposed to calc and pre calc then like u shud be fine ap bio is boring as ****, ive been told by my friends who want to major in bio engineering

ap physics in high school is mostly algebra 2 based. I would take the AP physics now, study your butt off, and then take AP Bio your junior year,
