What is the lowest IQ ever received by a human?

I received a significantly lower IQ score during a neuropsychological evalutation than expected. Reasons?

  • I've always been extremely bright in school and noted for my intelligence, so naturally I'm wondering how the discrepancy is possible. Can IQ tests fluctuate significantly? After the evaluation--if this is relevant--I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, an impulse-control disorder, and OCD. During the appointment I also had a notable difficulties in concentration.

IQ scores really only measure one 'kind' of intelligence. Though people who do well in them 'tend' to do better in school if you were to study hundred of people, it's not really applicable on an individual basis. Frequently people do well in them and fail at real life stuff and vice versa. Who said you did less than expected? Unless it was the person who administered the test themselves then I wouldn't listen to them. What many people fail to realise is that there are several different IQ tests. High attainment on one is not the same as on another. Mensa UK administer two tests for admission, and from memory I do believe you need about 128 on one or 144 on the other to get in! An IQ number is really meaningless unless you know what scale it was measured on. The only real rule is that 100 is about average. Other than that the number by itself carries little value.
