What would be a good major to take in college?

What's a good high school test to take if i want to attend college in the US?

  • I am a home schooled and I'm looking for a good high school test to take. Since I don't go to school I need a test which can get me get me to college, and prove that I've done it. However, is the SAT good enough? I mean, if i take the SAT what subject tests should i take? I'm planning to study journalism, writing or English Literature in college. Nothing to do with math or science. And if i take the SAT will i still need a highschool diploma? Are there any other choices for highschool tests that i can take?

  • Answer:

Both the SAT and ACT are accepted at 99% of US Schools. Some require SAT2 subject testing in individual subjects of your choosing, though with the ACT the SAT2s are sometimes waived. Here's how you win at these tests. 1. Do each section backwards, hard problems first. 2. Use shorthand to eliminate answers. Xs are WRONG, -- are "okay" sounding answers that are not obviously incorrect, and + are good answers. Usually i'll write ++ for an answer i'm 90% sure is right, then double check. 3. Answer every question. A guess is as good as a blank in the long run, as they penalize wrong answers. Still, you never make outright guesses! You're smart and have intuition as well as tools to help narrow down the options. You have to play to win, so answer EVERYTHING.

You can take SAT and ACT. I think their are other test...call a university you are interested in and ask them to find out if there are more options.I don't know what country you are from, but I applied to University of Michigan and for example since I did most of my high school in the Caribbean they asked for my CXC results which is a test taken in the Caribbean.I also submitted ACT,but it wasn't necessary for me. I think SAT ask you about american history etc which is why I avoided it,since I don't know. ACT questioned me in english, math, science, reading basically.it is really fast paced,I hardly had time to think and Im horrible at math so I guessed alot... so you really have to study..maybe even retake it. And all uni I know ask for high school transcripts showing you completed high school..unless you are applying as dual student.
