Is the GED test difficult?

Where can you get a GED without having to do the prep work, just take the test?

  • My husband wants to get his GED, we live in Wyoming & for him to get his GED here he would have to take a practice test which would take like 3 hours & then he would have to do some study and practice stuff that with the test would be a minimum of 12 hours before he could take the test. My husband has a full time job and works a lot of overtime & he can't be taking time off to get a GED. We would like to know if there are any states near us that don't require the prep work, ones that would just let him go in & take the test. I know that is how they do it in California where he is from but we aren't gonna go all of the way out there for a GED. Any help would be appreciated though!

I would recommend that your husband goes for his actual high school diploma. According to a recent study done by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, high school graduates earn almost $10,000 more per year that GED holders or dropouts. Since you say that your hubby is pretty busy with work, I think that an online high school would be the perfect solution. They are self-paced, so he could get the work done as quickly as he would like. Also, he could do the work on weekends, evenings, whatever fits his schedule. Here is the website to a great accredited school called The American Academy- http://www.theamericanacademy.com. Tell your husband good luck finishing school, no matter what he decides to do!
