What's the difference between SAT and SAT subject tests?

Should I take the SAT or SAT Subject tests? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

  • Hey everyone, I'm a senior and I have to take all the tests by December 2009. I'm having a hard time deciding since I am still studying for both and I want to take the SAT two more times and SAT Subject tests only 1 more time. Will it be better to choose option 1 or 2? Option 1 October 10 - SAT reasoning November 7 - SAT subject tests (language offered only in Nov.) December - SAT reasoning OR... Option 2 October 10 - SAT subject test November 7 - SAT reasoning December - SAT reasoning

  • Answer:

I think Option 2 would be better because not all colleges require SAT Subject tests whereas almost all colleges require SAT/ACT, so in a way the Subject tests are not as important as the SAT Reasoning. Also, with Option 1, you have to make time to study for the SAT Subjects in between having to take the SAT Reasoning, but in Option 2 you'll be able to purely focus on the SAT Reasoning after having taken the Subjects in October. Another thing is that you probably should not have waited until your senior year to start taking these tests, but good luck nevertheless..
