What's the difference between the SAT and the ACT?

Do you pay for the ACT? I thought you didnt have to pay? Thens whats the difference between the SAT and ACT?

  • cz i tried to register on actstudent.org but it asked for a fee of 47$ its not that i cant pay it but i never heard of paying a fee for it and our school wants us to go and register for it by oursleves

  • Answer:

As far as I know, the SAT and ACT have always required a fee. These are generalities, but the SAT is supposed to be a measure of your "aptitude" for higher education, while the ACT is somewhat more subject matter oriented. There are also differences in how the tests are scored - the ACT doesn't deduct from your score for wrong answers, while the SAT does, for example - and in the score ranges. The most important difference to know is which test(s) you will have to take for admission to the colleges you may be interested in. Other answers

Yes, there are registration and service fees. The difference is in the nature of the testing and the fact that some schools place more emphasis on ACT results and others on SAT scores when adding up all the factors involved in a student's qualifications for admissions.
