How can one obtain a G.E.D?

GED Help!! If you can only answer one Q its still helpful?

  • 1. If you pass the GED Pre-test do you still have to take the classes? 2. Do you have to take the GED Pre-test or can you skip it and take the real thing right away. 3. Do you recommend the pre-test? 4. Is the Math portion of the test hard? What is the hardest in your opinion? I was a jr. in High School and just dropped out in early january(2009) plus i have been studying GED books if this helps.

    It may vary from state to state. In Arizona I was required to take a pre-test but it was much shorter than the actual GED test. The point in this was to determine what areas I needed to work on. I only needed to take classes for the math portion and took them for less than a month, 2 hours a day for 5 days a week, before taking the actual GED. I do recomend taking the pre-test and taking the classes for any weak areas. For me the math part was very difficult. However, my math skills are extremely poor. The math test had 3 portions and we were only allowed to use calculators for 1 portion of it. Thanks to the classes I was able to pass even the math part. The rest of it was all pretty easy.

In most states if not in all states a pretest is not necessary. My own view is that a pretest is a good idea because it indicates how you stand and in what area you may need additional work. I am not aware of any requirement that you must take a pretest in order to take classes. You certainly if you desire can take GED classes on line where there are no state barriers./ You will see how difficult you find the math portion of the test by taking the pretest. You can look up the regulations for your state by going to your favorite search engine and entering the name of your state followed by the phrase GED regulations./
