How to get an A at English Language GCSE?

I failed my English Language GCSE and wan't to go Uni?

  • I failed English Language and wan't to go Uni? I got my GCSE results and I passed everything except English language which I worked my a## off for. I passed English literature but only got a D in Language. I want to apply for aerospace engineering later at uni but the requirements on UCAS shows i need a C in language, so I wanted to know is there anyway I can get a uni to accept this? And I really don't want to do a resit because I wont have the time for it. English is my first language but when it comes to exams I get stressed easily but I passed speaking and listening, it was just the two exams. And I was only 10 Marks from a pass.

  • Answer:

If you want to go to uni you will probably have to go to college first I think you will be able to resit there but I'm not sure there's a way around not resitting. if your not 100% sure you want to do engineering then there's always other options, my school recommended I go to http://www.fasttomato.com/ this shows available careers that you may want to look at, you have to answer some questions and it shows paths which you might want to take based on your interests other than that I cant help you. :D (you may need to create an account). :D

So what are your grades exactly for english lit and english lang? Most unis want at least a C, so if you haven't got that in either one, then perhaps you should resit. I'm assuming you're in year 12, so this should be relatively easy to do in terms of re-takes, but obviously you don't want to compromise your AS results. But you should definately ret-take- competition for places is so high that you need to make sure you have everything they want for you to even be considered. Hope this helps!
