How many regents do I need to graduate?

I failed the earth sciene regents do l still need to retake it even though l dont need it to graduate?

• my guidance counselor told me it was ok if l failed my earth science regents because l already passed living environment so l will still be able to graduate and l did not fail my earth science class neither, so l was wondering do they still send you in august to retake it? or will the failing mark will just remain?
