If i took the act with writing once, and i plan on retaking the act, do i have to do the writing again as well?

i already took the act with writing, and now i want to take it again to increase my score. the colleges I'm applying to require the writing portion, do i have to retake the act with writing, or can i just send my second act without writing and my first with writing?

Depends on your college, some will take seperate scores and use the highest, while some will only use scores from one date.
