How do ACT practice tests compare to the real test?

  • I took an ACT practice test today, and got 26 composite, and 30 math on it. It was the practice test from the free ACT book that I got from my counselor. Is this a realistic score for the actual ACT test, or will it be a lot lower? I've heard that most people get much lower than they expect when they take it. I only have one chance to get at least 23 composite and 24 math so that I can apply for an early-entrance-to-college program. I'm trying not to stress out too much, but it seems impossible. Also, does the environment in which you take the test affect your score? Would I do worse on the test because I wouldn't be at home, and my stress and anxiety would be horrible?
