What can i do with a major in journalism?

What should I do about IB Chemistry, if i want to major in journalism?

  • In 11th grade i was supposed to take the IB diploma in subjects- HL: English, Physics, Business & Management SL: Chemistry, Math, but then ....... the school couldnt provide me with a 2nd language (because the other diploma students where all fluent in arabic so they took Arabic A1, while i was Arabic Abinitio, and they didnt have anyone to teach me) so i just kept the exact same classes with the same levels for that year, and had an overall GPA of about 3.3 in 11th grade (my average being a 3.6 - 3.8 from previous years) for this year (my 12th grade) i dropped Physics (because the teacher left the school, plus she didnt know what IB even was, and the school didnt have anyone to teach the class for the first 2 weeks of 12th grade) and i dropped Business & management because i hate money. i decided that i want to major in JOURNALISM in the states, so i want to drop Chemistry because it is REALLY hard and i will spend so much time on study and trying to keep up and not enough on improving my reading and writing skills (which i will need for journalism, obviously) but my mom insists that i take chemistry and is forcing me to rethink my decision to drop, but i find it a major waste of time WHAT SHOULD I DO? DROP chemistry ...... OR NOT????

  • Answer:

You know what? I'm an IB student here in America and I say you should take the class, study hard and try to complete it. Most of the time colleges in America don't look at WHAT classes you take but what kind of a STUDENT you were. Did you drop many courses, the ones you stayed with...did you do well? Could this student take one of our classes and try to succeed even if the student may not want to. If you stay in IB and stay with the classes you were signed up for, and hopefully do well, you should do fine. You can always have time to study your writing skills and grammar, some journalists still are. My opinion is to stay with the classes you have and to do your best to succeed in them.

I would drop it if it seems detrimental to your GPA and irrelevant to your life goals.
