Does anyone have tips for taking the SAT?

  • im a senior and i make straight A's in school and im in honors classes so im not a slacker i just forgot about the SAT and am just now taking it and i want to do good any tips

    Buy or check out from your library "The Underground Guide to the SAT" it gives you sample questions, tips, and is an easy read... you could finish it in less than a week, I finished it in 2 days over the summer. The Kaplan books are great, especially the sample tests.

Well since you don't have any time... For math - just do your best and skip the ones you can't figure out. Tru to just mow those questions down. Science - this is VERY hard. Do your best for most of the time, then give yourself 5-10 minutes at the end to pick random answers - you're gonna get 25% right. If you give yourself even more time, you can kinda eliminate answers and bring that up to like 35% correct. Reading - they do NOT give you enough time for this one. Whatever you do, read the questions first and THEN pick them out of the article/story. I remember taking the SAT without knowing this. I got through 1/3 of the questions before I realized I was out of time. Writing - Give yourself a few minutes to find a really good thesis statement and back it up with TONS OF FACTS FROM THE ARTICLE. Make it almost plagiarism, you have to have so much. It'll also help to make a layout of your ideas, but they care more for your main stance on the given subject and the supporting facts.

Yea, get the thick book with the sample questions. My SAT went up 100 points after I read that completely.
