What SAT do I need to take?

  • I heard that there are SAT I and SAT II, and SAT I is mandatory or something..? Well, I am a student in Canada and would like to go to an US univ, and I'm a little confused about SATs. It seems like i have to choose three subject tests? Please tell me what exactly do I need to take? and if there is subject tests, what can i choose from? and is the test material gr 12 level? and other things i need to know..THANKS!!!

schools that ask for the SAT will require the SAT I. some, but not all, schools will also require that you take SAT II subject tests - usually two. you can see all the subjects on the college board website (link below). a very few schools (like the Ivys) will ask for three SAT II subject tests. there is no rule, you just have to check the requirements at the school to which you are applying.

No, they aren't required. Only a few top schools like Harvard require 2 SAT II tests, but most don't. Just take the SAT and ACT.
