Do I have to have a GCSE to get into a college? (In the UK)?

Ok well the title says it all, do i have to have a GCSE to get into a college? Ive been told that if i just have high grades ( Im a straight A student) then id be able to get into a college, and take GCSE courses there........Any input, knowledge, or advice is GREATLY appreciated. THanks so much to all who read this....

Answer:
Usually you need 5 - 7 GCSE grades at A - C for most college A - level courses. For BTEC you need less not sure of strict requirements though. Bacculeureate can count for three GCSE's at level 2. Of course you can get in with less GCSE's than mentioned above if you promise to retake your core subjects.
