How hard is AP english literature and composition?

AP English Literature and Composition Exam Tips?

• I would LOVE people who have taken the test (or teach the class!) to give any tips for studying or what I should concentrate on. Sadly my English teacher is probably the worst teacher ever (I have no idea how he got the job) and it's preparing us at all. Because it's an 89 dollar test I would LOVE to pass it. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  Buy a prep book by Barron's or Princeton Review. Review the material well, and take the practice exams. After taking each practice exam, examine which areas you struggle with the most, and learn from your mistakes. During the actual exam, know that the written portion of the exam counts for a larger percentage of your overall score than the multiple choice section (55% essay portion, 45% multiple choice portion), so make sure you can write a strong literary analysis for each prompt. Also, know that you can write the three required essays in any order (basically, you can maximize your score by choosing the order of writing your essays). Finally, make sure you finish writing each essay; incomplete essays receive very few points (perhaps even zero points). Best of luck!
