SAT Subject Test Math?
-
For my SAT subject tests, I'm thinking of taking US history, literature, and a math. Math would look good, but I've never loved math. Always gotten either a B or an A in the class though. Just wondering if I should take math level 1 or level 2? What kinds of things are on either test? I'm a junior taking trigonometry/math analysis right now.

Knowledge-wise, you seem to be right on task. However, it's worth noting that some of the more selective colleges don't always take Math I when accepting subject test scores, so that's something to look into; mine for example didn't, so I took Math I as a practice in sophomore year and then took Math II my senior year; huge improvement. I definitely walked out of Math II thinking that I failed the test because I left 9 blank, but then I got that score because I didn't get many wrong and because of the huge curve on the test. Topics for Math I: http://sat.collegeboard.org/practice/sat-subject-test-preparation-mathematics-level-1 Topics for Math II: http://sat.collegeboard.org/practice/sat-subject-test-preparation-mathematics-level-2 Just go down to Getting Ready for the Test and you'll see Topics listed in blue. Math I: 650 (after Algebra II) Math II: 770 (while taking AP Calculus AB)

If you are alright with Trig, and hopefully Pre-Calc, then you should probaly go for Math II. This test is a little more advanced, so take lots of practice tests before the real thing. Good luck! From Wiki: In the USA, the SAT Subject Test in Mathematics Level 2 (formerly known as Math II or Math IIC, the "C" representing the sanctioned use of a calculator) is the name of a one-hour multiple choice test. The questions cover a broad range of topics. Approximately 10-14% of questions focus on numbers and operations, 48-52% focus on algebra and functions, 28-32% focus on geometry (coordinate, three-dimensional, and trigonometric geometry are covered; plane geometry is not directly tested), and 6-10% focus on data analysis, statistics and probability.[1] Compared to Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 is more advanced. Whereas the Mathematics 1 test covers Algebra II and basic trigonometry, a pre-calculus class is good preparation for Mathematics 2.[2]

i took both as a sophomore and here were my scores 620 Math II 630 Math I the scores werent too off because math 2 has a nicer curve but math 1 doesnt, but the questions are easier. i didnt answer 10 questions on math 2 and im sure i got a few wrong but i still got 620
