Need help choosing the right career path...?!?
-
Hi I'm a student from India, and I have a year of school left to go. I've always wanted a career in medicine, but because of caste reservation, it's very tough to get a medical seat in a good medical school here without having to pay a large capitation fee.Of course it would still be worth working for, except that some doctors here say that it would be hard for me to practice anywhere outside of India because of the stringent rules in other countries concerning this. This is a very big drawback because I'd like to choose where to live, see a few places and live in them - not just visit. I think a person has to live in a place for a while to really experience it. I'd really really like that level of flexibility when it comes to where I wanna live - I might even decide India's my best home and come back, but I want the flexibility to do so. I wanna see the world for myself, and that's very important to me. I think that whatever I study, if I choose to study it on my own, I'd do well because it was my decision to study it and build a career on it. So the interest factor isn't that much of a problem, I'm not stuck on medicine. Some younger doctors have told me that it is possible to practice in other countries without having to study medicine all over again, but that I must write and do well on a standard exam they conduct. They think that it's a little too much work because one has to do exceptionally well at school, work even harder in college and have to prove yourself over and over again in order to get a good job in different places or even in one. Getting a medical degree and specializing in something in itself takes a lot of time and work, they say. And at one point of time, you start to want seeing some money already. So basically if I can do medicine in a country where the degree is universally valid, and is affordable or where financial aid is offered, that might just be my only chance at studying medicine. It'd be of enormous help if you could suggest universities such. I'd also like Plan B career options - what other subjects can I study? subjects related to biology would be preferable. Some info on studying forensic science would also be of assistance..

Answer:
i would say continue studying in medicine, and if you can't get a job in India, you could try and find one in the USA or another country.
