Can aqa exam results be transferred to the edexcel board?

I got a B in my A-level physics module, and it said mark 86 on my results sheet but it was out of 70?

  • Got my result today wanted to know whether it was a high or low B, The exam board was aqa The paper was out of 70 So what does it mean by mark 86, it can't be percentage because my mate got 101 which was an A

  • Answer:

The only thing you can do is ask the exam board. Some apply standardisation to some extent, so your mark could be a precentage (101% just being a standardisation blip meaning your friend nearly got everything right) or it could be any other measure. The board should be able to tell you what the cut off points for the different grades are, but they are often cagey in releasing information about exactly how the scores are calculated in case people try to work the system.

Your school has probably changed your score in to UMS which is the scoring System that aqa uses. They usually score it out of 120 o 100, for example in my results I got 96 out of 120 in my english language paper today.

The 86 is the ums mark, its just some mark that the exam board outs down, which is out of 120, think it may be so its easu=ier for them to work out grades etc. if its all out of the same mark. If you go onto the aqa website you will be bale to find somewhere a table showing you the marks out of 70 and the ums mark so you can then see what you got
