Answer:
Although this may come as a shock to some, I don't learn or remember things in a normal way, however I have an excellent photographic memory. I have ADD, and what I have done is remember in other ways. I learn in visual ways so to make a little picture out in the margin of my notes is key. Long after the subject is long forgotten I can still see my little stick pictures out there. It is like taking an open book test, as I can still see all those pictures in my mind. When you lock into your own needs for memory then you will retain the info like a steel trap. I would tape lectures and listen to them when I could, although I know that isn't always possible. I'd rewrite my notes as I listened. What ever works for you but don't be embarrassed by trying it a different way. I don't mean time consuming pieces of art in the margin, just little quick stick doodles to jog the mind. It all becomes so easy it is like cheating, but not. Before that my mind seemed some like a strainer in learning things that bored me, so much ran out. Ha, no joke. I am not bragging when I say I was top in my class, but it was only through this that I got there. Had it not been for this I might have not even made it. My mind works exceedingly well with minutia, but not so well with mundane facts. If I can rearrange them to not be mundane and boring, I've got it. Hope this makes sense and is of some help to you. Good Luck and let me/us know how you do. Nora

it really depends on what type of a learner you are. I memorize best by teaching other people or writing it out a bunch of times. you can try saying it over and over or doing something creative like making a song or poem but for me its teaching it and writing it out.

pneumonic devices... like pictures in your head. i use them especially for spanish. like nadar is to swim in spanish so i think of ralph nader swimming in a pool and i remember. if you can relate it to something that you know like that you will definitely remember. it is kind of weird but it always works!
c'est la vie
The best way to remember how to do something or how something works in theory is to write it out in your own words, and rewrite it over and over until you can remember it off by heart. The mom of 4's idea will work really well, too.
