What is the best SAT prep center?

Can Sylvan Learning Center help dyslexic student prepare for ACT and SAT?

• My son is a junior High school student and holds a GPA 4.0 but is a slow reader. He is going to be doing his ACT and SAT. Can Sylvan Learning Center's pricey advanced reading program help him. Can anyone help me decide if their cost of 2 hours/day for 6 days at $480.00 is worth it?

  Hands down, absolutely and without a doubt, YES! I teach Sylvan's Advanced Reading Course and have done so for 20 years. It is a fabulous program. I just finished teaching a seminar tonight and the kids are so excited to see 300% to 600% increases over their initial Effective Reading Rates. The ERR is the words per minute that an individual reads at 100% comprehension. One example: Ryan read 174 wpm at 40% comprehension at the start of this program 3 weeks ago and tonight he read 633 wpm at 100% comprehension. If your son has an official diagnosis of Dyslexia, you can petition the ACT Organization to eliminate the time limits for him. Check into that, but regardless of that decision, he needs to take Sylvan's Advanced Reading Course if not prior to taking the ACT, at least prior to going off to college. He will have a ton of reading to do in college and needs the skills to get it done in a timely manner so that he can study and can have a life! It is worth every penny you spend to give him this gift!
